Web Design and Interior Design Online Degrees

You've happened upon another weekly installment of "who says I'm overeducated." This article focuses on a different educational path each week, and is designed to give you a snapshot of possible career paths.

If you are anything like me, there have been times in your life when a little career advice from a knowledgeable source would have been invaluable. While an article will never compare to receiving advice from a person who has worked in the field you want to investigate, it will hopefully be a starting point for you - a catalyst that will nudge you a bit to take some career action, or at least make you want to investigate a certain field further.

In this week's column, I'm going to discuss the benefits of earning an education in design.

Web and Interior Design - What Sets Them Apart?
The design profession is comprised of many different fields including industrial, graphic, web, fashion, interior, and even floral design, among others. While all of these fields are interesting in their own way, two of them - web design and interior design - stand out from the crowd because they are both popular and have been successfully offered online, saving students both money and time.

Because web design, by nature, involves using computer hardware and software, it is easy to see how an online education in this field could be just as useful as one in a traditional classroom.

Interior design is also conducive to an online format. Interior design students typically learn by examining different design projects and then discussing the pros and cons associated with each project. Both the examination and discussion aspects of this education have been incorporated seamlessly into online degree programs.

Web Design - A Developing Field
The art of web design has advanced by leaps and bounds since the advent of Internet commerce. Companies are constantly thinking of creative ways to keep consumers eyes glued to a website so they will either spend money on the site, or watch advertisements.

The phenomena of increased Internet commerce has created a large demand for talented web designers. The web designers that land plum jobs are those that have both artistic talents and experience working with leading web design software. This experience is generally earned while enrolled in web design degree programs.

Interior Design - Is it right for you?
These days, students focused on becoming interior designers can find a degree program that will help put them in the workforce in as little as two years. A degree program will generally focus on classes that examine spatial and color relationships in an indoor setting, and will also delve into practical courses on the business aspect of the industry.

In some programs, students have access to internship programs that pair them up with professional mentors within the interior design industry. This real-world experience is an invaluable teaching tool. Whether you want to become a web or interior designer, or whether you want to earn an online or traditional degree, these two paths lead to careers that are in demand, creative, and challenging.

If you're contemplating a career in either web design, or interior design, it's time to start investigating different degree programs that will put you on the right track. Luckily we have listings of the programs that would fit your interest on this online degree site. They're sure to help you in your school search.
